A: When you get some of the world's leaders in photography in the most majestic location on the planet, the answer is more than you can imagine. You will shoot, chat, connect and relax with pros and peers alike in an intimate environment. Find your Focus is limited to no more than 14 paid participants so your access to these leading minds is virtually unlimited. You will learn shooting techniques, digital work flow, leadership and business tips and whatever your mind is open to.
A: Find you Focus is a photographic experience unlike any other. Set in iconic Iceland you have the adventure you have always wanted as you share the experience along side some of the leading minds in photography today. You will be able to shoot, recharge and connect with pros and peers in a way few get to experience.
A: That and much more. While at Find Your Focus, it would be a sin not to photograph the target rich environment, yet there will be much more to "Find your Focus" than just landscape. We will be having evening fire-side chats covering several different topics from enhancing your images with Lightroom, Photoshop, lighting on location, leadership and business and open forums to ask the questions you have always wanted to ask. You will also have great networking opportunities as well as a time to recharge your batteries.
A: To take part of the free transportation, your flight must arrive before 10 am on Friday Saturday, Sept 7th and depart Monday, Sept 16th. We will be staying in a hotel within walking distance to the airport on Sunday night. Please note, that your flight from the US, will leave on Friday the 6th and arrive Saturday morning.
A: You will fly into Keflavik (KEF) International Airport. It is a former US military base and the main airport in Iceland. Please arrive by 10am. Most flights arrive between 4am and 9am. There is lodging near Keflavik. If you want to visit the capital city of Reykjavik it is about 45 minutes away and easily accessed via the Fly bus. Learn more
A: Your registration includes transportation to and from the Keflavik airport as well as all week while in Iceland. We have several 4x4 vehicles that seat 4-6, and seats are randomly assigned each day. At home you may always ride shotgun, but at FYF, you can find yourself in any seat. If you feel that you can not ride in any seat of a vehicle, consider renting your own vehicle. Fair warning, renting vehicles in Iceland is very different than renting in the US and we will be driving on some F roads (non-maintained dirt roads that may require river crossings.)
A: No. Everything is taken care of for you. We will be staying in three locations- Hali Country Inn (2 nights), Hotel Anna Apartments (4 nights), The Highland Center(2 nights) and Airport are hotel (1 night). Everyone will have their own bed, but you may have a shared bathroom with other FYF attendees.
A: Iceland has the honor of being the most expensive country on earth. We are sensitive to that and have worked to make everything as affordable as possible. A gas station hot dog and drink may be $25 and a nice, sit down meal may be $100. Two of your evening meals and most breakfasts are covered along with a few other "meals." At Hali and Anna, we will have access to kitchens and we plan to visit the grocery stores to help keep meal costs low.
A: We understand and know the difficult it can be finding meals. We should have menus in advance so you can see your options. We will also be visiting grocery stores and have access to kitchens for every day except the first.
A: Yes and no. All locations on the itinerary have been scouted and planned so that you have the best experience possible. At FYF, we have a scheduled time line with freedom to explore built in. For your safety, it is best to stay in groups of 3 or more. In Iceland, you must stay on established trails. Walking on moss can kill it and it will not grown back. Along the beaches you have more freedom.
A: Yes, but it is always at a level that you feel comfortable with. If we visit a location, there are options to photograph that don't involve a lot of walking. If we do visit an area with hiking, it is always an out and back and you have lots of time to meander as desired.
A: This is a hard question. Each person will have different ideas of difficulty. Each location we visit has options for the uber explorer and the Sunday stroller, so no one is left out. At FYF, we ask that attendees can maintain a 30 minute mile. The bulk of the hiking will be during the pre-convention in Landmannlauger.
A: We are still working on some of these- Right now, it looks like we will be soaking in the World Famous Blue Lagoon and kayaking in a glacier lagoon among the icebergs--We are still working on these and they are subject to change. Excursions are included in your registration fee.
A: If I cancel, do I get my money back. Unfortunately no. Due to the inclusive nature of the event and the demand for space at these locations refunds can not be issued. However, your ticket may be transferred to another person or rolled over to a following event or FYF product. In rare cases, exceptions and partial refunds may be made on a case by case basis. Due to the unique situations in Iceland, we strongly encourage you to purchase trip insurance. Allianz.com offers insurance or you can check with your local agent.
A: Registration includes the admission to the 'Find your Focus' event, world-class education in Iceland, a FYF shirt (and other surprise goodies), travel to and from KEF airport and in Iceland, all lodging, a special dinner and some special adventures.
A: You will be responsible for your air travel, some meals, gate fees, alcohol, gifts, souvenirs and personal items.
A: Check out our Attendee info page for a packing list and suggested clothing. It will be updated soon with ALL THINGS Iceland. All Attendees will also be invited to Informational Zoom meetings. Tentatively scheduled for 90 days prior to the trip
